OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Board of Directors of US Latino Affairs Initiatives, which includes Chairman Jesús Carrión, Vice Chairman Al Serje, Secretary Francisco Valentin, Treasurer Guerlina delaHoz, and Board Member Fredy Rosado, recently convened to discuss strategies for increasing the number of residents in the United States who can obtain citizenship. During the meeting, the board evaluated the needs of eligible residents who often lack the time and support necessary to complete the citizenship process. The board’s analysis focused on identifying ways to provide the needed assistance to help these individuals achieve their goal of becoming U.S. citizens.

DESCRIPTION

One of the key points discussed was the presence of various communities in New Jersey where Spanish is the predominant language and where Hispanic residents have established deep roots over many years. Recognizing the importance of empowering these communities, the US Latino Affairs Initiatives aims to ensure that eligible residents receive efficient, effective, and professional support in their journey to citizenship.

In line with this objective, an opportunity emerged through the Center for Hispanic Policy, Research, and Development, which opened a grant for non-profit organizations. This grant is designed for organizations that have the capacity and infrastructure to support and streamline the application process for eligible individuals seeking U.S. citizenship. This initiative represents a significant step towards providing much-needed assistance to Hispanic communities, helping them navigate the complexities of the citizenship process and ultimately achieve their goal of becoming U.S. citizens.
